We are currently witnessing a surge of modern slavery and labour exploitation worldwide. According to the Global Slavery Index, an estimated 49.6 million individuals are currently trapped in situations of modern slavery, a staggering additional 10 million people since 2016. Of this near 50 million children, women and men 27.6 million individuals are enduring forced labour, where they are forced into work they didn’t choose often through the use of violence, threats or through financial debt.
